Rhonda Draper has been a joyful force of musical magic in the lives of children. A celebrated music specialist in public schools and an Arts in Education lecturer at UBCO’s School of Education, Rhonda has dedicated her career to unlocking creativity and confidence in every child she teaches.

Step into one of Rhonda’s classes, and you’ll discover a world alive with rhythm and imagination. She has a natural gift for connecting with young learners — helping even the shyest of voices feel brave enough to sing out. Through playful songs, energetic musical games, rhythmic chants, story-driven rhyme work, and hands-on exploration of drums, percussion, barred instruments, and ukulele, Rhonda teaches music in a way that feels like pure adventure.

Her classrooms aren’t just places to learn — they’re places where friendships spark, confidence grows, and children discover the music that lives inside them.

What is Rhonda’s 6 week sound education course?

Our 6-week class “Intro to Music” program for 4–5 year olds begins January 9th and continues for the next 5 Friday’s from 9:00-9:45 at Bring The Noise Music Academy located at 1-1415 Hunter Court.

This playful, engaging class is designed to spark a love for music while supporting your child’s overall development. Each week, children will explore music through songs, games, chants, rhymes, stories, and creative movement—all in a safe, encouraging, and joy-filled environment.

Throughout the program, children will discover that music:

  • Has high and low sounds, loud and soft sounds, fast and slow rhythms, and different moods

  • Helps develop coordination, listening skills, focus, and confidence

  • Supports emotional expression—learning how music can help us feel calm, excited, brave, or joyful

  • Builds community, teaching children how to take turns, listen to others, and make music together

More than just an introduction to music, this class nurtures creativity, imagination, and connection—laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and self-expression.

Music is a beautiful and healthy gift to give your child, and I’m so excited to welcome your little one into this experience. I look forward to meeting them soon! 🎵✨

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Session times are standing weekly appointments that remain consistent throughout the term or 6-week module. Once enrolled, your musician’s spot is reserved for them and their group.

  • Generally, yes. Session weeks typically align with British Columbia school terms, though there may be occasional differences. All session dates are shared in advance on the RDSE webpage and through BTN communications.

  • Because sessions are group-based and spots are reserved, missed classes cannot be made up or credited, regardless of notice. Tuition covers more than just the time spent in a single session.

  • Make-up sessions are not available for individual absences. If RDSE must cancel a session due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, a substitute coach or rescheduled session will be arranged whenever possible.

  • If RDSE cancels a class, we will make every effort to reschedule or provide a substitute. In some cases, credit may be issued at RDSE/BTN management’s discretion.

  • If a musician is absent for more than three consecutive weeks due to medical reasons, a credit may be considered at the discretion of RDSE/BTN management. Please reach out directly if this applies to your situation.
