CCMA’s Bottle drive for the win!
On the weekend of September 13th, something pretty incredible happened behind the scenes at BTN Music Academy—something that ended up making a lasting impact on our music community.
When the Canadian Country Music Awards came to Kelowna, we were given a unique opportunity. Out of all the organizations in the city, our academy was chosen to collect every bottle from the entire three-day event. It was an unexpected honor, and one we didn’t take lightly.
What followed was an awesome team effort. Over the course of the event, we had an amazing group of volunteers from our BTN community step up to help. Together, we sorted, bagged, and loaded thousands of bottles—filling two large trucks in the process. It was long, messy work, but there was something special about it. There was energy, laughter, and a shared sense that we were part of something meaningful.
And we were.
Because of that opportunity—and the effort of everyone involved—we were able to raise enough funds to fully launch our piano program last year. What started as a simple bottle drive turned into a brand new pathway for students to explore music, grow their skills, and find their voice at the academy.
We are incredibly grateful to the CCMA Awards team, the organizers who trusted us with this opportunity, and every single volunteer who gave their time and energy to make it happen. This is what makes BTN what it is—not just the music, but the people behind it.
Moments like this remind us that when a community comes together, even something as simple as collecting bottles can turn into something much bigger.
Thank you for being part of it.
